His accent! HAHAHA I love it for some reason! That would be so cool to have his accent.

"its got no rear spoiler and that's why it kept up"

I really don't think that made a bit of difference. The other announcer had it correct, he needed to keep right as he was told.

That wing will make a huge difference at speed. I can't find the video, but a few years ago there was one where a driver lost the wing on a road course and promptly spun in the first high speed (downforce) corner that he came to because the back end had no grip. Here is a picture showing the lift/downforce of an Evo and an STi.

Interesting diagram!

How does "H" convert in terms of pounds of downforce? Source?

Today I found it with GIS. I remember first seeing it posted on Oppo a long time ago. Might be able to find more info by searching Oppo. IIRC it was included in a discussion that showed a video of an STI spinning during a track day.

Not sure what the "H" is representative of.

The Subie that crashes on the track is not using the factory wing it had an APR GT wing that broke and then lost it in a sweeper. Those generate a very real amount of downforce and would cause major issues if you lose it at the limit mid-turn.

Thanks for linking to the article. The stock wing does provide downforce, though I would guess not as much as the APR GT wing on that particular car.

That makes my point. The 173 newtons (N) of down force that they got at 90 mph is 38 lbs of down force. That's not going to keep the back end down when they hit the ramp wrong at 90 mph.
